Feb 23 – On to Champasak

We left our big suitcases at the hotel and headed to the airport for a short flight to Paksa in southern Laos.  We picked up our guide and driver and headed out for the 40 minute drive to our lovely, riverside hotel in Champasak.

There were a lot of rice fields along the way.  We had a stop to photograph the rice fields…

and the small “restaurant” where you could eat in the small huts out in the rice fields.

The next stop was the ruins of a Hindu temple.  However, there was a very large festival going on when we arrived.  Lots and lots of people.  Mary and Patty stayed in the car while Tara, Paul and the guide headed out for the walk to the temple.

The temple is up this hill.

The crowd on the way to the temple walk.

Some worshipers.

A monk posses for his photo with the festival in the background.

We arrived at the hotel around dinner time.  The restaurant is fully open to the soft breezes of the Mekong.  Saw this little guy on the handrail at the restaurant.
